CANADIAN FORCES SNOWBIRDS

  • Over 80 years ago, on June 6, 1944, That’s All, Brother led the main airborne invasion of Normandy. Piloted by Lt. Col John Donalson, the plane led more than 800 C-47s that dropped over 13,000 paratroopers into a battle that changed the course of mankind. 80 years later, we were able to bring this great airplane back to the skies in 2024! That’s All, Brother has been restored to its 1944 condition, including its D-Day paint scheme along with a thorough historic interior restoration. (Source: The Commemorative Air Force)

  • The U.S. Army Parachute Team, known as the Golden Knights, is a combination of expert teams and Soldiers brought together by their love of skydiving. This includes parachute teams, aircraft pilots, and those who handle jump logistics behind the scenes. The Demonstration Team excels under pressure performing for excited audiences at some of the largest festivals, air shows, and sporting events around the country.   • The CH-47 Chinook is the heavy-lift helicopter of choice for the U.S. Army. It is an advanced multi-mission tandem-rotor helicopter, proven in cargo and troop transport, search and rescue, casualty evacuation, special operations, humanitarian, and disaster relief, and more. The Chinook can operate where others cannot, especially in unprepared, mountainous positions where pinnacle landing may be necessary. The design also allows the Chinook to fly at up

    to 20,000 feet, higher than other helicopters in its class.

  • As a child, Kirby was always playing and running around with toy planes. At only 13 years old, he began flying. By 24, he was the youngest commercial pilot at Southwest Airlines and made captain by 28. Although he enjoyed flying commercial, it became a means to pay for his true love for aerobatics. Kirby continuously trained to perfect his aerobatic skills and routines, which he was able to display at various air shows. There, he began to establish his continuously growing fan base and earned recognition for his skills with an acceptance onto the U.S. National Aerobatic Team. To date, Kirby has accumulated 13 medals in world competition. Kirby has been recognized as one of the top 15 aerobatic pilots in the world and competed in the very first Red Bull Air Race.   • Hot Streak II is a twin jet engine 57 Chevy Pickup capable of speeds of over 350 mph that has been entertaining fans across the country for over 20 years. It sports two Westinghouse J34’s engines, rescued from a J 34-48’s Navy T-2A Buckeye Airplane.

    At 25,000 horsepower, it has a thrust of 12,500 pounds with afterburner, supported on a chassis of 4130 Chrome-moly construction. Hot Streak II’s body is made of aluminum and steel, and the vehicle measures 17 feet long and weighs 4,300 pounds. (Source: Smoke-n-Thunder JetTruck Shows)

  • The North American B-25 Mitchell is an American twin-engine, medium bomber manufactured by North American Aviation (NAA). It was named in honor of Major General William “Billy” Mitchell, a pioneer of U.S. military aviation. Used by many Allied air forces, the B-25 served in every theater of World War II and, after the war ended, many remained in service, operating across four decades.

    Produced in numerous variants, nearly 10,000 Mitchells rolled from NAA factories.[1] These included a few limited models, such as the United States Marine Corps’ PBJ-1 patrol bomber and the United States Army Air Forces’ F-10 reconnaissance aircraft and AT-24 trainers.   • The T-6A Texan II is a single-engine, two-seat primary trainer designed to train students in basic flying skills common to the U.S. Air Force and Navy pilots. Because of its excellent thrust-to-weight ratio, the aircraft can perform an initial climb of 3,100 feet (944.8 meters) per minute and can reach 18,000 feet (5,486.4 meters) in less than six minutes.   • The AH-64 Apache has a four-blade main rotor and a four-blade tail rotor. The crew sits in tandem, with the pilot sitting behind and above the co-pilot/gunner. Both crew members are capable of flying the aircraft and performing methods of weapon engagements independently.   • “GunFighter” is a P-51 D Mustang built in Inglewood, California and accepted into the U.S. Army Air Force in March 1945. Shipped to England, it was assigned to the “Mighty Eighth” Air Force. After the War ended in Europe, it returned to the U.S. and is now restored in the colors of the 343rd Fighter Squadron, 55th Fighter Group. Powered by a Packard-built Rolls-Royce Merlin engine rated at 1,490 HP, Gunfighter boasts a top speed of over 400 mph and a ceiling of 41,000 feet.

  • UH-60 Blackhawk: The Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk is a four-blade, twin-engine, medium-lift utility military helicopter. Named after the Native American war leader Black Hawk, the UH-60 entered service with the U.S. Army in 1979, to replace the Bell UH-1 Iroquois as the Army’s tactical transport helicopter. The UH-60 features four-blade main and tail rotors.   • Celebrating 25 years in wrestling in 2024, Cinta de Oro, a Mexican-American wrestler, rose to fame as Sin Cara in WWE. Born to Mexican immigrant parents, he grew up between El Paso, TX, and Ciudad Juárez, working in his grandfather’s funeral home while earning a degree in embalming. A 1996 graduate of Burges High School, he was an undefeated state wrestling champion and MVP. In 2020, after a decade, he left WWE and adopted the Cinta de Oro name, honoring the original luchador. 

    In recognition of his impact, the city of El Paso declared April 12 as Cinta de Oro Day, a testament to his numerous local accolades and his standing as a symbol of success and resilience. Beyond the ring, he has significantly contributed to his community, establishing himself as a local hero and mentor. 

    Cinta de Oro founded his own wrestling company, Cinta de Oro Promotions, and in 2022, published El Verdadero Campeonato, a deeply personal book chronicling his journey. He was the first inductee into the El Paso Wrestling and Lucha Libre Hall of Fame in 2023 and continues to hold the IOCW Championship, cementing his place as a living legend.
