About Amigo Airsho

Welcome back to the skies, Amigo Airsho!

After a 12-year hiatus, we're ecstatic to announce the return of the Amigo Airsho to El Paso, Texas. Mark your calendars for October 12th and 13th, 2024, as we prepare to take flight once again at the prestigious Biggs Army Airfield on Fort Bliss.

Amigo Airsho shares a special and unique partnership with Ft. Bliss and receives unparalleled support from Biggs Army Airfield, including facilities, equipment, manpower, static displays, leadership and input.

The Airsho also receives support from Holloman Air Force Base, which provides aircraft maintenance equipment from German Air Force personnel stationed at Ft. Bliss.

We're proud to announce MountainStar Sports Group as our title sponsor, partnering with us to bring this spectacular event to the El Paso community and beyond. With their support, we're soaring to new heights and delivering a truly unforgettable airshow experience.

Join us as we celebrate the spirit of aviation, salute our armed forces, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Amigo Airsho is more than just an airshow—it's a testament to the power of commUNITY.

In 1981, against the backdrop of the vast Texan skies, Amigo Airsho took flight for the first time in El Paso, Texas.

Founded with a vision to celebrate aviation excellence and foster community bonds, the airshow quickly became a cherished annual event.

Amigo Airsho began as the vision of El Pasoans, Dick and Suzie Azar, Sandi Brown, Nathan Goldman, Jean Kahn, John McGuire, Alan Russell and Dario Toffenetti. Their dream was to create a fun filled community event in celebration of all of the wonders of aviation.

From its inception, Amigo Airsho set itself apart by seamlessly blending ground attractions with awe-inspiring aerial displays. Spectators were treated to a mesmerizing spectacle that showcased the prowess of both military and civilian pilots, while also offering ground-based exhibits and activities for enthusiasts of all ages.

An Integral Part of El Paso

Over the course of 30 years, Amigo Airsho became an integral part of El Paso providing the community with aviation history and information, and honored the men and women of the Armed Forces. Families would gather year after year, marveling at the precision aerobatics, aircrafts, and thrilling demonstrations, and aviation technology.

However, in 2012, the skies over El Paso fell silent as Amigo Airsho took its final bow, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories and a void in the community.

But the spirit of Amigo Airsho refused to be grounded.

In 2024, after a 12-year hiatus, Chief Executive Officer Tresa Rockwell, fueled by a passionate team of supporters, spearheaded the revival of the beloved airshow. With unwavering determination, they secured the opportunity to once again grace the runways of Biggs Army Airfield with the roar of engines and the beauty of flight.

The relaunched Amigo Airsho not only seeks to reignite the thrill of aviation enthusiasts but also aims to bridge the gap between the military and civilian communities. By providing a platform for shared experiences and mutual appreciation, the airshow serves as a symbol of unity.

Moreover, Amigo Airsho is committed to nurturing the next generation of aerospace innovators. Through its support of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) initiatives, the airshow endeavors to inspire young minds and ignite a passion for exploration and discovery.

As the aircraft soar once more over the sun-drenched skies of El Paso, Amigo Airsho continues to write its history, guided by the principles of excellence, community, and the boundless spirit of aviation.
